      17-Year-Old Leukemia Patient Gets Car of His Dreams

Jack is 17 years old and has leukemia.  While he likes his old car, his dream was to make it even better, so he turned to the Make-a-Wish Foundation® to make that come true.  For more than 20 years, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York, Inc. has dedicated itself to fulfilling the special wishes of children under the age 18, who are living with life-threatening medical conditions.  UnitedHealth Group, as part of its three-year national alliance with the Make-a-Wish Foundation, pitched in to help.

About the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central New York

Incorporated in 1985, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central New York, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to granting special wishes to children under the age 18, who are living with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Make-A-Wish Foundation®  of Central New York  grants wishes for children in Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, St. Lawrence, Tioga, and Tompkins counties.  With the help of generous donors and more than 300 volunteers, the local Foundation has fulfilled over 1070 wishes in 15 counties throughout Central New York since its inception in 1985.

 

LIVERPOOL, N.Y. – Representatives from UnitedHealthcare and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York joined together on Saturday, March 29 at Monro Muffler/Brake & Service to surprise 17-year-old leukemia patient, Jack, with his dream car, adding chrome and black spoke rims, a sunroof, a removable ski rack, snow tires and a new stereo with subwoofer speakers and iPod input to his vehicle.
