ScottBoat PGS 16:Performance, Innovation,
Uniquely Designed ScottBoat PGS 16:Performance, Innovation,
Affordability for Waterfowlers and Fishermen

With the ScottBoat PGS 16, Jerry Shepherdson and his design and engineering team have created a product with the particular needs of the North American sportsman in mind. The PGS 16 boasts the ScottBoat Stabilization System, a reverse chined hull running the entire length of the boat, making it an especially stable platform for hunting and fishing. With its high sides, spacious interior and reverse chined hull, the ScottBoat sets the standard for stability in this class size. This boat is made of the ScottBoat Armor-Tuff proprietary fiberglass, and sports a base price of just $2,495. While most fiberglass hulls this size are priced at $4,000 and up, the PGS16 saves money and offers many big boat features without challenges and high price of larger boats.
Shepherdson engineered and designed the PGS16 to be tough enough and versatile enough for use by outfitters and fishing and hunting guides, yet is also affordable for any consumer. It is remarkably durable yet lightweight for a boat 16 feet long with a 53 inch beam and weighing only 215 lbs. The planing hull design allows for a 15 horsepower maximum motor rating, which is about three times the horsepower capacity of other boats in its class. An 8 horsepower motor will move the PGS 16 over 17 mph, while a15 horsepower motor propels it at over 25 mph.
The ScottBoat PGS 16 fills a void in the market for sportsmen who have long searched for an effective way to get out to their favorite home water, without the hassles brought by larger boats, motors and trailers. The nimble ScottBoat PGS16 outperforms just about any boat in its class, drafting only 4 inches of water, allowing hunters and fishermen to get to a lot of tight places that bigger, heavier boats can't access. It is perfectly designed for slow moving rivers.
The interior layout of the boat is proving to be popular to both the waterfowlers and the fishermen alike. With no center bench, there is ample room for storage in the middle of the boat, more storage in front of the bow bench, and two huge 9 1/2 foot long storage rails on either side for expensive rods, guns and gear. The PGS 16 was also designed to allow two duck hunters to be able to lie down full length to stay out of sight of incoming birds. Two 6 gallon gas tanks fit easily behind the bench seat.
The ScottBoat line for sale in the U.S. in 2009 also includes the "Lucky 14" for even smaller waters. Two other ScottBoats are available in the U.S. in the company's y-stern Freighter series: the ScottBoat Albany Freighter 18 and the ScottBoat Hudson Bay 21.
