Salmon River, Oswego River, Oneida Lake, Fishing Report 12/24/07

Quick update here on Christmas Eve.

Recent heavy rains have all the rivers and streams running at flood stage or above. The salmon river still reports 335 cfs, but the gauge at Pineville is 800 and still rising. With run-off you are looking well over 1,000 cfs from Trout Brook down. I would look for them to increase flows tonight, but who knows??

Oswego topped out at 17,000 and has dropped to about 16,000 as I am typing this.

Although fishing this week has ben awesome, high cold run-off is just about a guarantee that they will shut down until things stabilize. Everyone gets excited with higher water, but ice cold snow melt means tight lipped fish.

The good news is the smaller streams should blow open and some fresh fish should show up to the north and west of fish City

With above normal temps predicted for the the next week, I would think think more great fishing is ahead of us, as this continues to be the BEST Steelhead season we have seen in years!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Troy & Shelley
