Salmon River, Oak Orchard, Oswego River, Oneida Lake, Niagara River, Fishing Report 4/1/08
Everything is on the rise and many of the streams are blown out. We knew it would hapen we just didn't know when.
The salmon river is still fishing good with the water at 750 but it is over 1,200 at Pineville with run-off.
I would be surprised if they don't raise it tonight or tomorrow, we will see.
Egg sacs in pink, white and chartreuse are all working well. Look for all the creeks to fish real good when they start to drop.

Western New York fishing report by Jay Peck – www.jaypeckguides.com
All of our rivers and creeks remain high, with rainfall the last couple of days, water clarity or has deteriorated to total mud. The good news is for some of our smaller creeks and rivers the water temperatures are now finally reaching into the low to mid 40s. Muddy water conditions for us on the Western end of the Lake, is nothing new. Wet spring's like the one we are having now, can keep all our waterways off-color for several weeks. I suspect that by mid week water flows should stabilize and water temperatures should be about ideal for prime spring fishing conditions. Oak Orchard might a little behind the rest of the rivers due to its reservoir. Hopefully the ice will clear out quickly. Once this happens water temperatures will rise fast. The way everything looks the next three weeks we should experience the best steelhead fishing of the spring. Our one big challenge will be learning to cope with muddy water. I have a favor saying for these conditions that is “fear no mud”, To the fish muddy water means cover.
See you out there, Troy
