Salmon River, Oak Orchard, Oswego River, Oneida Lake, Niagara River, Fishing Report 11/22/08
Another cold snowy weekend is in the books. Crowds have dropped off, the fish are moving into the holes and the water is cold. It droped to 750 today and then 500 tomorrow.
Same thing, same spots. Eggs in blue, pink & white. Trout beads in glow roe & sun orange 8 & 10 mm are both working. Plugs are woring if you want to run them. Most of the fish are up top, but there are just enough fish below pineville to keep things interesting.
A few pics

Jim on his first drift trip, lit them up pretty good.

Frank hit his share as well.

Even I get one occasionally!

Check this rather tiny, late run salmon out that banged a hot shot. King or Coho, you be the judge. Black mouth, but a white gum line. Fork tail? Strange spotting?

Western New York fishing report by Jay Peck - www.jaypeckguides.com
The weather has not been kind to the fishing in western New York. Starting with the Genesee River, the rain that came through last weekend has causal water levels in the Genesee to rise above fishable levels.
The way things look the Genesee will remain high for at least one the two weeks, before water levels come down. The Genesee River was fishing very good for steelhead and late run Chinook salmon before water flows came up. The fishing at Oak Orchard River has slowed down considerably do to the winter weather. Water temperatures have dropped almost 10° over the past week.
You can imagine what this does to the fishing. Hopefully fishing will improve as water temperatures start to stabilize. The other area streams and creeks are not faring as well. Water temperatures have dropped in to the mid 30 degree range, putting these creeks and streams in to winter fishing conditions.
I have December 10 to 18 wide open!!
