Lake Ontario, Onieda Lake, Oswego Fishing Report 6/25/07

The Kings are Here!!

The hard winds we experienced over the weekend seems to have blown in the mother load of chinooks! The salmon fishing on Lake Ontario is red hot and Charter boat captains are concentrating their efforts in 80 to 200 feet of water from nine mile point to the Fair Haven. The spoon bite has been great, but don't be afraid to keep the flashers and flies in the water as well. Most fish are coming out of 50 to 60 degree water so run your lures in and around that temparatures
Browns just keep biting and all have to do is find some bait whre the temp hits bottom and you will find lot's of trout.

In Oswego, Bass have been active throughout the river  with the dugout near Leto Island being a popular spot. Areas near the breakwall have also seen good action, as has Ford Shoals to the West of Oswego. A variety of bait has been working such as minnows, worms, leeches, spikes and crayfish.

The lower Salmon River Reservoir is producing some nice rainbows but don’t forget your bug repellent as the black flies have been bad.

July 8 & 9  is the 13th Annual Oswego Pro-Am Salmon and Trout tournament. For more information you can log on to www.lakeontarioproam.com
