2008 Lake Ontario Oswego Pro-Am Winners Final Standings

2008 Lake Ontario Oswego Pro/Am Winners

On the pro side Capt. Patrick Thayer of Redline Charters from Mexico, NY along with Whoopie the dog and the Peschler boys put it together for the win on the pro side. After sitting in 3rd after day 1 Red said we went out there and did what we know how to do, "Catch Brown Trout", he did have a few short copper sections that took a fair share of fish he claimed but the team held no secrets utilizing their normal go-to lures that each of use everyday. Team Redline was the only team to take a limit of 12 fish on each day. Red said it was a team effort and they had a simple game plan to target the BT's and let the chips fall where they may. The chips certainly fell in Red's favor, nice plan Red, Whoopie and Team, Job Well Done bud !........... 2nd place Team TK sat in 4th after day one targeting Kings, 9 fish each day and an attractor/fly program that is one of the best on Lake Ontario took them there along with some crucial decisions took the 2nd place spot, they did make a late day move on day 2 when they figured they could pound out a few quick Brown Trout. One advertantly of which measured exactly 18", a team decision was made to throw it back since if it was to fall short at the check-in it could cost the team dearly, if that fish was kept and it made it through the check-in it could have given Team TK and Kevin Davis a repeat victory after winning in 2007...............3rd place Team Hi Voltage was in that intimidating 1st place spot after day 1 and claimed a new secret spinnie we had made for them a few weeks ago along with the infamous hammer fly took most of the teams 1st day 12 fish limit, most of day one they were actually running 3 of this same rig while they were on a good school of feeding Kings and Lakers. On day 2 things changed as they most often do but the team held on for that 3rd place spot.

The A-TOM-MIK Big Fish award went to Team Royal Flush with a huge 28.82 lb. King taken on our product. Eric Marcinkowski claimed the big king took an A-TOM-MIK Fly with a Pro Troll attractor. Big Brown was taken by Team Candy weighing in at 13.14, big Steelhead taken by Reel Pleasure was 10.33 lbs.

All in all the fishing was very good and the lake yielded some outstanding catches but some very tough spells arose for many top anglers, our Kings showed their ability to dodge the skills of many very serious anglers throughout the weekend.

Am Division

On the am side Team Sparks sat in 3rd place after day 1 chasing Kings with 4 fish in the box at the end of the day, day 2 the team took 5 more fish for the win. At the awards ceremony Lester Zimmerman mentioned a great thanks to some other teams that helped them out in the past to hone their skills, Lester claimed Dave and Joe from Team Screamer had been a great help for their fly programs, he also thanked the Big Fin boys and Team Cold Steel for further support. Giving thanks is a great gesture but Team Sparks is a very tough group of guys who play to win. Lester and Larry are known for taking big Kings, just watch the LOC Board for proof, these guys are some serious anglers. Team Sparks also took several Kings over 20 lbs. during the Pro/Am alone with the 2nd largest King of the Pro/Am weighing 26.98 lbs. Dodger sat in 4th after day 1 with 4 fish and managed 5 more fish as well on day 2 to move up to that 2nd place spot. Friends of pro team Redline, Horsin Around was one of only 2 teams who took their limit of 6 fish on day 1 that put them in the 1st place position, day 2 they took 5 more but the weight of their fish could not overcome the heavier Kings, but they seemed very pleased with that 3rd place finish.
