The Venison Donation Coalition reported at is most recent meeting that the winner of the December 15th, 2007 drawing for the $500.00 Bass Pro Gift Card was an outdoor enthusiast by the name of Alex Mapstone from Honeoye Falls, NY. Congratulations Alex!
A big thank you to Bass Pro Shop of Auburn, NY for the generous donation and to all that participated and contributed to this worthwhile cause. The proceeds from the drawing are being used to assist in the processing of donated venison across New York State.
The program has been a great success. Since its inception in 1999, the Venison Donation Coalition, with the support of its many partners (hunters, farmers, food banks, sportsmen's clubs, organizations and individuals), has distributed nearly ½ million pounds of ground venison throughout the Empire State. That equates to 2,000,000 servings of highly nutritious meat to those in need. This year the Venison Donation Coalition hopes to process 125,000 lbs. and serve over 500,000 meals. Please help them reach this goal by supporting this program by providing financial donations that are used primarily for processing or by donating your first deer.
