The heavy fishing pressure continues on the Salmon River. Everyone has cabin fever, which is typical for this time of year. Mornings have been cold, but it isn’t stop anglers from hitting the water.
The upper section of the river between Altmar and Pineville is producing the most action Suggested baits are beads & eggs in white, pink, blue and orange, glo-bugs, estaz flies, hare's ear and caddis in (size 8-12). Bright colors are a great attractor for fresh fish, while natural colors are better for darker in river fish.
We fished hard the last few days and came up with a few here and there, typical fishing for this time of year.
Scoot and Mark spent a few days with me and we had a ball. Good home made chili, jokes, good weather and a few fish to remind us how lucky we are. Fish are just a bonus on days like this. Thanks guys!

Scott with a monster!!

Mark finished us off in last chance hole with this dark boar!
Jimmi & Mike just sent their pics from a day last week when the bite was on. Here are a few.
This is a great time for ice fishing on Oneida Lake, but safety has to be a concern. Clearly stay away from any tributary areas...the ice is never dependable when you have moving water. Also be cautious of large areas of wetness and water accumulated atop the ice. Keeping this in mind, the ice fishing is quite good right now for both perch and walleyes at about mid-lake on the buoy line at 125, 123 and 121 in 28 to 32 feet of water.
The perch fishing on Sandy pond continues to be good. Check out the latest blog from Jessica Burt at http://outdooradventuresinoswego.blogspot.com/
Pike have been taking large shiners and the blue gills and crappies have been active as well.
