Welcome to Fall.
For those of us whose passions flow to the sound of a flushing grouse, the screaming of a fly reel from a fresh run ironhead, or the heart-stopping sound of a grunting buck, fall isn't just our favorite season. Fall is the season.A time when cold mornings and warm afternoons are punctuated by a dazzling display of colors, from the burning red of leaves, to the intense blue of skies that are not yet spoiled by the winter grey that will come all too soon.
In this issue, we have geese, muskies, salmon, & deer. We have where to go, how to do it and the new products to do it with. This issue is packed with everything you need to make your Fall hunting or fishing excursion a success. That being said, I just purchased my 2008 Super Sportsman license and not only was I lucky enough to pull a low percentage DMP tag, I also thought the new regulation guide was well though out and full of good information. I also couldn’t help but think how lucky we are in NY. Did you know that we have 83 days to hunt whitetail deer? If you hunt Northern and Southern zones and hunt with a bow and muzzleloader you can be in the woods from September 27 to December 18. That is amazing. Think about it. What a tremendous oppurtunity we have here.
As I move from the wheel to the oars for the next seven months, I have to reflect back on the lake season that was unbelievable most of the time, but very trying at others. I also have come to the realization that no matter how much I love catching fish, nobody catches them all the time and if the only thing that I have to worry about is how, where and when I am going to catch my next fish, well then, I am truly blessed.
Enjoy yourself and Be Well,
