High Adventure Sportfishing Salmon River Fishing Report 2/19/10
Chaumont Bay, Handerson Bay, sodus Point, Sandy Pond and Black Lake continue to produce great catches of perch.
Sandy Pond is giving up some nice size pike as well. Large shiners and jigs in 10 to 20 FOW are working best
On Oneida lake Reports of good to excellent walleye and perch catches are coming in from Dunham and Frenchman Islands, Buoy 121 and to the east at Lewis Point. Most anglers are jigging with Swedish Pimples dressed with a buckeye minnow or a jigging Rapala enhanced with bait. The sonar is also accounting for a few walleyes. Yellow perch are responding to mousies and spikes fished with more finesse than the typical heavy handed jigging for walleyes.
The water level on the Oswego river is a low 4500cfs and ice is a problem on the colder days. Steelhead and brown trout are taking worms, minnows, egg sacs and white bucktail jigs.
The Salmon River is running a about a perfect 500 cfs and there are plenty of fish from top to bottom just waiting to be caught.
It has been on and off for two weeks now. They bite like crazy one day and they are stubborn the next. Typical Winter Fishing. Fish egg sacs, beads and small flies in pink, orange and white.
Jay and Jimmi spent two days with me this week. We crushed them on the first day and only got two on the second day. How does that happen?? Same spots, same people, same baits, same water flows. It is called fishing!

I recently spent a day with Chris Schaffer & Don Sherman from Pautzke Bait Company. We had a very easy double digit day. They just wanted to eat eggs this day. You can chack out a few short videos by going to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZGPpUm2WpY
I have been on the Pautzke pro staff for years and generally use skein during the warmer months for obvious reasons. But I will be fishing it a lot more all season now that we saw the results! tough to work with in the cold but well worth it!
More pics to come.
