From The Rowing Seat
From the Rowing Seat
How can you tell if a fisherman is lying? His lips are moving.
I lied to you in the last issue and I am here to fess up. I said I would be heading to
Georgia deer hunting and I didn't go. I preach and I preach, stop and smell the roses, but this wasn't really my fault.
I was notified about two weeks before I was ready to leave that in order to hunt on Fort Benning, (the place we reserved) you must possess a Georgia Hunters safety certificate. No problem, I am told I can take the test online. Problem was, it takes three weeks to process and I was leaving in 10 days. Hunt Over!
The good news is Shelley and I spent 8 days in the Keys while Mother Nature was pounding the Lake O region with record snowfall. We came home just in time to dig out and get this issue to the printers. We did manage to eat, drink, take in the culture, unwind and even did some fishing.
We want to welcome John Oravec, AKA the Troutman to LOO. John is one of the most knowledgeable and respected captains on the lake and has been a contributing writer for the In-Fisherman magazine for years. John literally has written the book on Salmon, Trout and Muskie fishing and we look forward to his articles.
Times are changing for small businesses across this country and here at LOO we are contemplating some changes ourselves. Having just passed the ten year milestone, we are evaluating the value of this publication and considering a huge expansion which would include increasing distribution and charging for the magazine.
I know it has been free for over ten years, but as mentioned times are changing. Are you willing to change with us?
