Summertime and the living is easy. Finally we are warm, and the cold chill from the late winter is behind us. As we wrap this issue up, the fishing on the Big O appears to be off to a grand start and the recent LOC Derby is proof that we still have bragging rights when it comes to trophy trout and salmon.

            Our cover shot this issue is new to LOO. Our contributing writer Bob Popp is pictured with the first bass we have ever put on a cover. Why didn’t we do it sooner? Good question. Guess we are so overwhelmed with the wonderful trout and salmon fishing we have here, that ole bucketmouth and Mr. Smallie get lost in the shuffle. Well if you want bass, Lake Ontario, Oneida Lake, the St. Lawrence River and so many other waterways offer every type of bass fishing imaginable.

 

            Mike Seymour gives us a detailed look at what you will find in the 1000 Islands region. Tributary anglers take note and hold on to Chris Kenyon’s article “Fishing the Seaway Trail.” This will come in real handy in just a few short months.

 

            There is so much to do and so little time to enjoy all that Upstate New York has to offer. Make sure you grab at least one weekend this summer and expose your children to the wonderful world of angling.
