From The Helm

Last issue I mentioned how the internet has changed how, when and where we fish. Finding up to date information is just a click away, once you get on the right website.
Here at LOO we have been putting in as much time as possible, to keep our website current and accurate. We have a long way to go.
In order to take it to the next step, we want our readers to know that we are in the final stages of adding a web cam on the Salmon River just below the bridge in Altmar. So now, not only will you be able to get current information by logging on to our site, but you will also be able to see who is standing on your favorite rock. (If your favorite rock is below the Altmar bridge).
If all goes well, everything should be up and rolling before the first chinook blasts up through the rapids this summer. We are also looking into adding webcams at other locations across the lake.
Stay tuned.

Despite nothing but horrible conditions on the big lake fishing during May ended up to be pretty darn good. The western basin shined bright while sewing up all twenty top spots for chinooks in the Spring LOC Derby. The remainder of the lake had to deal with fat healthy brown trout, a great showing of Coho's and a few kings and steelhead mixed in whenever the southeast winds didn't blow them to Canada. There may not be as many chinooks around as 2005, but they are definitely larger. Who knows, by the time you read this maybe the prevailing winds will swing in a more favorable direction and all will continue to be well across the big pond. Either way, I will See you out there!
