Editorial Show Issue 2005
Captain's Log
To all of our wonderful readers, advertisers, writers and contributors: Happy New Year! Without you, we wouldn't be here. In our never ending task to bring you the best publication possible, we have taken LOO to the next level. Lake Ontario Outdoors, as you can see, is now a full color magazine. Every page is now available in four color. No, it is not all glossy, but remember it's still free.
We believe that LOO is the best outdoor magazine covering Lake Ontario and the upstate region of New York that you will find anywhere. Recently there has been a barrage of new publications claiming to be the best, with only one or two issues under their belt. Quite the statement, considering how many great publications come from this state. To quote Lynyrd Skynyrd's Johnny Vanzant: "We have been there, done that and we ain't never going back". We are here now, we were here then and we will be here tomorrow. Our track record speaks for itself What do you think? Send your questions, comments and critisicm to Troy@lakeontariooutdoors.com. We want to hear from you.
National Marine Charter Association.
As if I don't wear enough hats already, I find myself filling yet another position, a very important position. I was recently elected to sit on the board of the NMCA.
The National Marine Charter Association (NMCA) provides a unified and effective voice for the full spectrum of over 40,000 companies in the marine charter industry. Marine charters who provide sailing, fishing, diving, eco-tours, water transportation, bareboats, and other excursion vessels up to 150 passengers are represented in NMCA, a national non-profit organization fully representative of their interests.
NMCA is the only organization that represents the charter industry with two registered lobbyists on staff. This uniquely allows us to work with policymakers in Congress, the Coast Guard, and other federal agencies to impact key regulations and laws which affect the industry.
The association also provides valuable group benefits, including nationwide marketing, drug testing, marine equipment, vessel insurance, health and dental insurance, and other discount programs. For more information contact; NMCA 1600 Duke Street, Suite 400 Alexandria, VA 22314Ph. 800-745-6094 Fax. 703-519-1716 Email- info@marinecharter.org

I have to send out yet another thank you to Todd Shapiro from Shapiro Motors in Oswego for providing LOO with the fabulous Dodge truck that you see traveling across the state, at sport shows throughout the Northeast and at all the secret fishing spots!

If you are on a frozen pond, the big lake, your snowmobile, or just sitting by the wood stove, take a minute to appreciate New York State's outdoor natural resources. Have a wonderful winter season. Stay safe and warm and enjoy all that the Lake Ontario Region has to offer.
