From the Desk of the Publisher By Captain Troy Creasy
I just hopped of the the High Adventure and beat feet home to get this issue wrapped up. I want to tell you about the 20 plus kings we hooked today and how great of a season this has been. I want to tell you that boats are whacking salmon all across the lake and it is some of the best salmon fishing we have seen in years!
Unfortunately, by the time you read this, that will be old news and all the chinooks that were not harvested on the lake will be making their annual run up the tributaries.
So what can I tell you that you don't already know? How about a new state record steelhead!
How about the 100 plus fish days that numerous anglers experienced for smallmouth bass in the Oswego Harbor in August. Did you know about that? How about the 50 plus steelhead days that goes on day in and day out, all Winter on the Niagara River. Did you know about that? Or maybe the 31.57 pound brown trout that was caught in July in Canadian waters. A 30 pound plus brown! We haven't seen one of those in over seven years!
You heard about all the kings, but did you know that the average weight was up over 5 pounds from last year? So what am I saying? I am saying that this big pond is alive and well and you should be here to experience all it has to offer. Enjoy this issue and please support the advertisers that make it possible.
Pro-Am
I want to once again thank our title Sponsor Gander Mountain, Lowrance Electronics and all the sponsors that made the 2004 Pro-Am Series Tournaments possible.
LOO at ICAST
Shelley and I attended the 2004 International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST) in July and what a show it was. We were able to meet with major manufacturers, many of whom are advertisers. We also previewed all the latest products and made new friends. Look in the news cast section of this and upcoming issues for product reviews on all the latest tackle, technology and gadgets.
Remember to tune in every Thursday morning at 6:45 on stations 101.7 FM & 1070 AM for our weekly fishing show. We want to hear from our readers.
